Dr. Leema Dookhoo was born in Trinidad & Tobago and grew up in Guyana and Suriname under the care of her grandmother. At a young age, Dr. Dookhoo witnessed and lived in areas with poor public health standards with frequent flooding, poverty and poor access to health care. When she moved to Canada as a teenager, her past experiences inspired her to pursue studies in health care. Dr. Dookhoo graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor of Science and completed a Masters degree in Neurophysiology. Inspired by her childhood experiences, she further completed a Bachelors of Applied Science in Occupational and Public Health. Dr. Dookhoo worked as a Public Health Inspector prior to pursuing her medical degree at the University of Toronto. 

Dr. Dookhoo combines her passion for Public Health with Family Medicine, where she delivers compassionate evidence-based care to her patients. She is focused on providing comprehensive and preventative medical care for her patients. She is respectful of the process of working together with her patients to achieve a individualized plan for greater health.

In her free time, Dr. Dookhoo enjoys spending time with her family and friends, event planning, and reading. Her most recent book: The Emperor of All Maladies by Siddartha Mukherjee

Dr. Christopher Gin is one of the founding doctors at Compasscare Medical.  He was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia and completed a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Science Degree in Neuroscience both from the University of British Columbia.  He then came to Ontario to earn his Medical degree at Queen's University and completed his residency in Family Medicine at Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine.

Dr. Gin is proud to have served the residents of Brampton and the surrounding areas for over 10 years and in this clinic he is hopeful to humbly care for his patients for many more years to come.  In his spare time Dr. Gin enjoys cycling and spending time with his family.

Family Medicine

Dr. Okoli is one of our walk in Clinic physicians. After obtaining his bachelors and medical degree at the University of Manitoba, he completed his residency training at McGill University in Montreal. He has a special interest in Emergency Medicine. His hobbies include football & travelling.

Dr. Crystal Peralta is a family physician at CompassCare.  She holds an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology from the University of Toronto and also a Master of Science degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Peralta pursued her medical degree at St. Matthews University in the Cayman Islands and subsequently trained in the Family Medicine Program at Medstar Franklin Square in Baltimore, Maryland – a program and place that she holds very close to her heart. It was at Franklin Square that Dr. Peralta not only garnered the skills to evaluate, treat, and manage those from a diverse population, but more importantly allowed her to appreciate and connect with the underserved of urban Baltimore. 



Dr. Peralta believes in and practices evidence-based medicine with a focus on preventative medicine and comprehensive care. As a family physician she has a broad scope of interest and enjoys full spectrum medicine ranging from women’s health issues/prenatal care to caring for young families and even further to complex chronic disease management in older adults. Dr. Peralta is also proficient in a number of office-based procedures including joint injections, cryotherapy, IUD insertions, and minor surgeries of diagnostic, treatment and cosmetic nature. 



In her spare time she enjoys spending quality time with those she cares about—whether that’s running around and being silly with her toddler Cruz, checking out a new restaurant with her husband Bradley, taking long strolls with her puppy Franklin, or laughing the night away at a really great games night or movie night with her family and friends.
