Dr. Leema Dookhoo was born in Trinidad & Tobago and raised in Guyana and Suriname by her grandmother. Growing up in regions affected by poverty, frequent flooding, and limited access to healthcare, she developed a deep awareness of the importance of public health from an early age. These formative experiences inspired her lifelong dedication to improving healthcare access and quality.

After immigrating to Canada as a teenager, Dr. Dookhoo pursued her passion for health sciences at McMaster University, where she earned an Honours Bachelor of Science. She went on to complete a Master’s degree in Neurophysiology, followed by a Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupational and Public Health. Before entering medical school, she worked as a Public Health Inspector, gaining valuable insight into community health needs. She later completed her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Dookhoo brings together her background in public health and her training in family medicine to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care. She is committed to providing comprehensive, preventative, and personalized medical care. Her approach emphasizes working collaboratively with patients to create individualized care plans that support long-term health and well-being.

Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Dookhoo enjoys spending time with family and friends, event planning, and reading. Her most recent read: The Emperor of All Maladies by Siddhartha Mukherjee.

Dr. Christopher Gin is one of the founding physicians of CompassCare Medical. Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, he holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Neuroscience from the University of British Columbia. He later moved to Ontario to pursue his Doctor of Medicine at Queen’s University and completed his residency in Family Medicine at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine.

Dr. Gin has been proudly serving the Brampton community and surrounding areas for over a decade. He remains deeply committed to providing patient-centered, compassionate care and looks forward to continuing to support his patients' health and well-being for many years to come.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Gin enjoys cycling and spending quality time with his family.

Dr. Kapacee believes that great healthcare starts with a strong partnership between doctor and patient. Dedicated to providing comprehensive care for all ages, she has a special interest in women’s health, supporting patients through every stage of life—from preventive wellness to milestone care. She focuses on listening to her patients' concerns and creating personalized wellness plans, ensuring every family at CompassCare feels heard, supported, and empowered in their health journey.

Dr. Crystal Peralta is a dedicated family physician at CompassCare Medical. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the University of Toronto and a Master of Science in Anatomy and Cell Biology from the University of Western Ontario. She earned her medical degree from St. Matthew’s University in the Cayman Islands, and completed her Family Medicine residency at MedStar Franklin Square in Baltimore, Maryland—a place that remains especially meaningful to her. It was there that Dr. Peralta developed not only strong clinical skills in evaluating and managing diverse patient populations, but also a deep appreciation for caring for underserved urban communities.

Dr. Peralta practices evidence-based, patient-centered medicine with a strong emphasis on preventative care and comprehensive treatment across all life stages. She has a broad range of clinical interests, including women’s health, prenatal care, pediatric and family medicine, and the management of complex chronic conditions in older adults. She is also proficient in a variety of office-based procedures, such as joint injections, cryotherapy, IUD insertions, and minor surgical procedures—both diagnostic and cosmetic.

Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Peralta cherishes spending quality time with her family.

Dr. Banvir Singh is the newest family physician to join CompassCare Medical. He completed both his Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master’s in Biomedical Discovery and Commercialization at McMaster University, before earning his medical degree from Kansas City University. Dr. Singh went on to complete his Family Medicine residency at Corewell Health in Troy, Michigan. These international training experiences strengthened his commitment to return to his hometown and care for the community he calls home.

Dr. Singh is passionate about preventative medicine and providing compassionate, evidence-based care. Fluent in both English and Punjabi, he strives to make healthcare accessible and comfortable for all members of the community. His clinical interests include men’s health, mental health, sports medicine, and the management of chronic conditions.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Singh enjoys staying active at the gym and spending quality time with his family.
